2008 IMPORTANT
TAX DATES
- January 15- Due date for
the fourth installment of 2008 estimated tax.
- January 16 - First day
for "E-File" Electronic Filing of Income Tax Returns
for 2008.
- January 31 - W-2's are
due from employers. Forms 1099 are due from payers of dividends,
interest and other types of income.
- February 15 - If you were
exempt from income tax withholding for 2007, you will need to
file a new Form W-4 in order to continue your exempt status for
2008.
- February 28 - Payers must
file information returns (such as 1099s) with the IRS.
- February 28 - Employers
must send W-2 copies to the Social Security Administration.
- March 15 - 2008 Calendar-Year
Corporation Income tax returns are due.
- April 15 - Due date for
2008 Individual, Partnership and Annual Gift tax returns.
- April 15 - Deadline for
making 2008 IRA contributions.
- April 15 - First installment
of 2009 individual estimated tax is due.
- June 15 - Second installment
of 2009 individual estimated tax is due.
- September 15 - Third installment
of 2009 individual estimated tax is due.
- October 15 - Deadline
for filing 2008 individual tax returns which were extended beyond
the April 15 deadline.
- December 31 - Date state
estimated taxes should be paid rather than waiting for the January
15 deadline. This will allow the state taxes to be deducted on
the Schedule A in the year they were paid.
